Salazar Slytherin was one of the four founding wizards of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A brilliant, ambitious, and powerful magician, he was renowned for his mastery of the dark arts and his controversial beliefs about magical bloodlines.
The Pure-Blood Philosophy
Salazar believed that only pure-blood witches and wizards should be allowed to study at Hogwarts. He feared that Muggle-borns might bring danger or weakness to the wizarding world. This belief eventually led to serious conflict with his fellow founders, especially Godric Gryffindor.
The Chamber of Secrets
Before leaving Hogwarts, Salazar secretly built the Chamber of Secrets, a hidden room deep below the castle. He placed a deadly Basilisk inside, which could only be controlled by his true heir—someone who could speak Parseltongue.
